stylized ship in port- finished

Actually this is the finished piece, i forgot the texture layer on the lower image :)

stylized ship in port

Finally got this one finished, added some detail, polished a few things up, also changed one of the textured layers for a much higher dpi.

WIP'S

Some more works in process, Top image is very experimental, i've gone to like very stylised and textured images, but i also much like how old photographs look, so basicly i'm trying to get that photographic effect yet subject matter and characters withing the image has to look realistic, but still naive like in shape.

The 2 dinosaur roughs i wanted to do simply becouse i havent done any real natural history for a long time, and since i do mainly digital these days, and i do still have this childhood passion for anything dinosaur, then i though it was about time i actualy did something, i still need to work out quite a bit, but so far i think i'm leaning more to the b&w rough, this has a much more dynamic and stronger feel to it. Finished piece i plan to do in full colour.

some new half finished pieces

This image was supose to be for a competition but started it way to late and not working out a proper rough to work from has resulted in it being late, hopefully i can get this finished for a portfolio piece :)

sea view

Not sure what to do with this one, at one hand i like the rough unfinished look, but yet i'm also tempted to maybe create a much larger, more polished piece, which i think would also work quite well as a slightly sureal image with also a deeper meaning with the 2 chairs joined as one as they are here.

Been playing with Alchemy again this evening just trying something realy quick and basic, anyway, bottom one is pure alchemy, the other 2 are then altered slightly using photoshop, not sure what to do next, i think some more experiments in photoshop to try and get a more aged sort of look may be better., though i do also like the clean crispness that pure alchemy achieves.
Pirates, thieves hiding out in skull mountain/cliff
Another half finished piece here, not 100% sure how this is going to finish, i'd like to keep the soft effect around the skull area, but i still need to add some other elements into the main image, especially the foreground, probably human figures. Overall though i'll keep the colour sceme quite dark, with just a few hints of light reflecting

Whenever I do some local work, the same question keeps popping up, have I got any business cards, so i thought i had better make some and basicly this is what i came up with. I wanted to approach the idea of "less is more". So I wanted a very simple look, also a very vibrant card that jumps out of all the half dozen business cards people often collect, but yet also a design that represented my work in the most simplest of ways, hence the paint tube and the basic 3 primaries.

Something different from the usual illustration and digital stuff.
The abstract is vey new to me, a style i've never really liked in the past, yet the older i get the more i seem to like it, (though i'm sure a lot of my friends would have a difference of opinion there and are even quite baffled at times when i'm just splashing paint around for no apparent reason :)) plus its also a great way to relax.

"sammy spider escapes again" a small advertisement piece to promote my work, again used with painter as majority of my digital work lately. Wanted to keep the textured look on this, i'm realy starting to like the traditional look again with plenty of texture and character that the actual medium can produce. I love using digital but its very much like airbrush in that it can often make images look false and take out the emotion and character that the original sketch had in the beginning.

never did quite finish this, actually still plenty left, though im still not sure what use i would have for this one even if finished :)

an experimental piece, using a little program called alchemy, very unique way of working, hope to experiment some more with this one soon.

paper cut style but with a touch of kay nielsen in the trees

created using blue ball point pen and scanned into painter, with the oil pastel brush

quick experiment using a custom artists brush

titania-faerie queen

This is my newest image, it was for the chow chategory on the weekly conceptart website. I think the overall colour and feel i'm happy with, though technicly the actual drawing itself needs quite a bit of work. All done in painter x, using various custom charcoal brushes.
